Well, we have been on the waiting list for close to a month now and hoping for a referral any day. We have been asked what "a referral" entails and honestly, we don't really know. We have heard that it depends on the region or on the baby house, but at any point we could receive a picture, videos, information on the child Russia has assigned to us or we could simply be told that they have assigned a child to us. Regardless of how much or little information we receive, we will have 2-4 to be in Russia to meet our child in person and if we accept them, a court date will be set and we will come home without our baby while we wait for our second court trip. Again, this is our understanding of how the process should work, but every story is different and God works out of the box at times too.
This waiting phase may be the most challenging yet. The paperwork kept our minds busy, but now with nothing to do but think about our baby we are getting anxious. It has also been a challenging time. Kayla's grandma became ill and passed away last month. Kayla and Braden spent a great deal of time in San Diego during that time. It was a blessing for Kayla to get to spend time with Gram, but it continues to be a very difficult loss.
During this time we are also still waiting on the remaining funds needed to bring our baby home. We are so thankful for the donations given by our supportive friends and family. We are guessing that we need about $15,000 more to complete our adoption. Some have asked about the deadline stated on the support letter and if donations will still be accepted. Lifesong made that a goal date, but since we have not raised the funds yet, our account will remain open for donations. Thank you again to everyone who has supported us through prayer, finances, time and talents. This would not otherwise be possible.
